Choosing the Right Standoff

Full Name:
Barbara Anderson

As we have been asserting here and elsewhere, a standoff can add a touch of class and dignity to any signs that you have in your office or place of business. A standoff can make the sign stand out and be noticed. But have you wondered, when looking at our extensive catalog, which standoffs would be right for you?

This isn't a matter of just picking one that is the right size and is made of a solid material and has a color that you like. There are plenty of other things to consider. This is why we have multiple types, sizes and shapes of standoffs - because we know that not all signs or decor are alike.

Here are some things to consider when choosing a standoff:

Standoffs are meant to enhance the sign, not distract from it.

Therefore, if you have a bright sign, use a "duller" color or a very neutral color standoff. If your sign is standard white, take your decor into consideration. A white sign will stand out in a darker-toned office, so use neutral or darker standoffs to enhance. If your office is more brightly colored neutral, then use brighter standoffs like gold. For a white sign to stand out, the standoffs need to be neutral to the decor.

If your sign has rounded edges, use a circular standoff, which blends in with the arc of the sign. For a squared-off sign, consider a square standoff for the same reason.

Be sensible on the length.

Again, we want the sign to be noticed, not the standoffs because they push the sign off the wall at an unusual distance. If you're not sure, go a little shorter - it looks better than having it be too far away from the wall.

Whenever in doubt, contact our professionals. We have been working with standoffs and signs for a lot of years and we know what looks good; we're happy to help you with deciding on the right standoff for you according to the various factors we've mentioned here.
